Reduce The Onset Of Myopia

Jess
By the year 2050, roughly half of the world's population will have myopia (be nearsighted)

Myopia is one of the most common eye disorders in the world. The prevalence of myopia is about 30 to 40 percent among adults in Europe and the United States, and up to 80 percent or higher in several East Asian countries.

The Crossbows Optical Custom Junior progressive is designed specifically to help reduce the onset of myopia in young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years. At Crossbows Optical, we have used our extensive experience in progressive lens design to tailor this product specifically for use by younger wearers. We have created this product to offer a large stable reading area which is combined with excellent peripheral clarity in the distance zone.

The corridor has been kept short at 13mm, which allows this lens to have a minimum fitting height of 14mm. This is important when the frames of the young wearer are likely to be smaller than adult frames. It is not a full range progressive, with additions ranging between 0.50 and 2.50D. It is suggested where no other data is available, that patients should be prescribed with a 1.50D addition lens. The design is available in various indices.
